Storing
Bagels stay freshest when stored in tightly sealed plastic bags. Allow bagels to cool before transferring to a plastic bag. Never store bagels in a paper bag.
Reviving
Bagels tend to harden after several days. You can freshen them by toasting, broiling, or microwaving very briefly (15 seconds) or moistening with water and baking for 10 minutes in a 350-degree oven.
Freezing
Bagels should be cool before freezing. Slice and place in a freezer bag and seal tightly. While frozen, sliced bagels may be popped in a toaster.
Refrigerating
Please don’t do it! Keep bagels at room temperature or freeze them. Bread products (including bagels) go stale up to six times faster in the refrigerator. Fortunately, you can quickly bring bagels back to life—see reviving.
